Welcome to the centre of the North Island and New Zealand’s largest lake - Lake Taupo.
Lake Taupo covers 616sqkms and is widely considered the trout fishing capital of the world. The surrounding forests are ideal for hunting, mountain biking, horse trekking and bushwalking and its rivers are not only ideal for fishing but for white water rafting as well.
There is so much to see and do in the Taupo region that more than one day is required.
Taupo is an ideal base for day trips to the mountains for hikers and skiers, Napier and Rotorua are within travelling distance and our central location removes the need for you to unpack every day.
Close by there are several golf courses including the International Wairaki Golf Course. In winter Mount Ruapehu offers two world class ski fields only 55 mins away.
If that’s not enough adventure for you there is sky diving and of course New Zealand famous bungy jumping right on the doorstep.
Because the whole area is volcanic, there are stunning examples of geothermal activity including mud pools and geysers, not to mention the natural hot pools for you to sit, relax and soak in.
Every year on the last weekend in November there is the famous around the lake bike ride. There are elete riders down to novices who want to say they have done it. Bookings this weekend are essential
We’ll be happy to assist you in booking and organising your activities in any way we can.
